11/4/2023 0 Comments Php substring string![]() In the above code, we’re checking if the string $string contains the substring $substring. $string = "Hello, world!" $substring = "world" if ( strstr ($string, $substring)) If the substring is not found, it returns false. The strpos() function, short for “string position,” returns the position of the first occurrence of a substring within a string. In PHP, the two best ways to check if a string contains a substring are by using the built-in strpos() and strstr() functions. By the time you’re done reading, you’ll have good knowledge of how to check strings for substrings in PHP, and you’ll be ready to use this skill in your own code. We’ll keep things simple and easy to understand, so even if you’re new to PHP, you’ll be able to follow along. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with these functions yet - I’ll explain how to use them step by step and which one to go for. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to do this using two functions: strpos() and strstr(). Whatever the reason, it’s a common task in PHP programming. It assumes an input string in any of the formats listed below.Have you ever needed to check if a certain word or phrase is present in a larger string in your PHP code? Maybe you need to filter user input or perform a search on a website. An optional parameter is passed to handle this case (assume thousands, assume decimal, decimal when period, decimal when comma). Only exception where this leads to a conflict is when there is only a single comma or period and 3 possible decimals (123.456 or 123,456). ![]() This will handle a string where it is unknown if comma or period are used as thousand or decimal separator. Despite of the occurence of the character 'c' the pointer is not moved. ![]() Then the regular expression looks ahead whether a 'c' can be matched. In this case the variable $number_of_full_pattern has the value 6.įirstly a string "cg" will be matched and the pointer will be moved to the end of this string. $number_of_full_pattern = preg_match_all('/(cg(?=c))/', "cgcgcgcgcgcgcg", $chunks) That is, the pointer will be moved to the end of the matched substring.īut we can use the lookahead feature that disables the moving of the pointer: The variable $number_of_full_pattern has the value 3, because the default behavior of Perl compatible regular expressions is to consume the characters of the string subject that were matched by the (sub)pattern. $number_of_full_pattern = preg_match_all('/(cgc)/', "cgcgcgcgcgcgcg", $chunks) Your request can be fulfilled with the Perl compatible regular expressions and their lookahead and lookbehind features. ![]() Yet another reference to the "cgcgcgcgcgcgc" example posted by "chris at pecoraro dot net": Getting Started Introduction A simple tutorial Language Reference Basic syntax Types Variables Constants Expressions Operators Control Structures Functions Classes and Objects Namespaces Enumerations Errors Exceptions Fibers Generators Attributes References Explained Predefined Variables Predefined Exceptions Predefined Interfaces and Classes Predefined Attributes Context options and parameters Supported Protocols and Wrappers Security Introduction General considerations Installed as CGI binary Installed as an Apache module Session Security Filesystem Security Database Security Error Reporting User Submitted Data Hiding PHP Keeping Current Features HTTP authentication with PHP Cookies Sessions Dealing with XForms Handling file uploads Using remote files Connection handling Persistent Database Connections Command line usage Garbage Collection DTrace Dynamic Tracing Function Reference Affecting PHP's Behaviour Audio Formats Manipulation Authentication Services Command Line Specific Extensions Compression and Archive Extensions Cryptography Extensions Database Extensions Date and Time Related Extensions File System Related Extensions Human Language and Character Encoding Support Image Processing and Generation Mail Related Extensions Mathematical Extensions Non-Text MIME Output Process Control Extensions Other Basic Extensions Other Services Search Engine Extensions Server Specific Extensions Session Extensions Text Processing Variable and Type Related Extensions Web Services Windows Only Extensions XML Manipulation GUI Extensions Keyboard Shortcuts ? ![]() ![]() The first part of this definition says that processing the empty string doesn't move the machine the second part says that to process \(xa\), you first process \(x\), and then take one more step using \(a\) from wherever \(x\) gets you. This automaton processes strings containing the characters 0 and 1. The automata we will study examine an input string character by character and either say "yes" (accept the string) or "no" (reject the string).Īutomata are defined by state transition diagrams. It makes this decision by transitioning through a sequence of states, making exactly one transition for each character of the input string in a deterministic way. Draw an automaton that recognizes the set of even length strings, the set of all strings, the empty set, etc.Īn automaton is an extremely simple model of a computer or a program. 2.2 Deterministic Finite Automata (DFAs) A deterministic nite automaton is a state machine that takes an input string and either accepts or rejects that string. If \(L\) is recognized by \(M\), is every string in \(L\) accepted by \(M\)?.If every \(x \in L\) is accepted by \(M\), is \(L\) recognized by \(M\)?.Let \(M\) be a machine with one final state \(q\) and a transition function that takes \(q\) back to \(q\) on every character of \(Σ\).We defined deterministic finite automata, and the extended transition function We started with a second example proof by structural induction this has been added to the end of the notes for lecture 20 DFAs can be built from nondeterministic finite automata (NFAs) using the powerset construction method.Lecture 21: deterministic finite automata ĭFAs recognize exactly the set of regular languages, which are, among other things, useful for doing lexical analysis and pattern matching. ![]() For example, a DFA can model software that decides whether or not online user input such as email addresses are valid. A DFA has a start state (denoted graphically by an arrow coming in from nowhere) where computations begin, and a set of accept states (denoted graphically by a double circle) which help define when a computation is successful.Ī DFA is defined as an abstract mathematical concept, but is often implemented in hardware and software for solving various specific problems. For example, if the automaton is currently in state S 0 and the current input symbol is 1, then it deterministically jumps to state S 1. Upon reading a symbol, a DFA jumps deterministically from one state to another by following the transition arrow. For each state, there is a transition arrow leading out to a next state for both 0 and 1. The automaton takes a finite sequence of 0s and 1s as input. In this example automaton, there are three states: S 0, S 1, and S 2 (denoted graphically by circles). The figure illustrates a deterministic finite automaton using a state diagram. In search of the simplest models to capture finite-state machines, Warren McCulloch and Walter Pitts were among the first researchers to introduce a concept similar to finite automata in 1943. Deterministic refers to the uniqueness of the computation. In the theory of computation, a branch of theoretical computer science, a deterministic finite automaton ( DFA)-also known as deterministic finite acceptor ( DFA), deterministic finite state machine ( DFSM), or deterministic finite state automaton ( DFSA)-is a finite-state machine that accepts or rejects strings of symbols and only produces a unique computation (or run) of the automaton for each input string. The state S 0 is both the start state and an accept state. An example of a deterministic finite automaton that accepts only binary numbers that are multiples of 3. 11/4/2023 0 Comments Galileo telescope importance![]() As technology has improved, first Galileo, and then many others, have made improvements on the telescope, the wonderful device that allows us to see from a distance. The moon was covered in bumps and craters. ![]() March 1615: Papal commission issues edict against Copernican theory Cardinal Bellarmine orders Galileo to cease in his support of heliocentricity. One night, he pointed his telescope toward the sky, and made his first of many space observations: the moon was not smooth, like everyone thought. December 1614: Father Tommasso Caccini attacks Galileo in sermon in Florence, and later denounces him to the Inquisition. It not only revealed the existence of a plethora of stars in the Milky Way and elsewhere, but it also revealed the presence of vast stretches of space. Within 24 hours, he had invented a telescope that could magnify things to make them appear ten times larger than real life. Galileo Galilei was born near Pisa in 1564the same year in which Shakespeare was born and the year in which Michelangelo and Calvin died. Why Was Galileo’s Telescope Important Using Galileo’s telescope, the theory that the Earth and its satellites circle the Sun gained strength. When he heard tha t a Dutch inventor had invented some thing called a spyglass, but was keeping it a secret, Galileo decided to work on one of his own. Because math was the one subject where he was doing well, the court mathematic ian offered to tutor him privately so he could become a qualified mathematic ian. According to the Rice Universitys Galileo Project, 'Galileo made his first telescope in 1609, modeled after telescopes produced in other parts of Europe that could magnify objects three times. Galileo has been called the founder of modern science. His father wanted him to be a doctor, but Galileo was bored with school except for math. When he was 20 years old, he was studying in Pisa. The opening getaway scene is pretty solid at least. We won’t spoil the specifics here, but despite being one of the best sci-fi subplots in Rick and Morty history, it’s still not enough to make up for the rest of the episode’s half-hearted attempt at character development. One saving grace of “Mort Dinner Rick Andre” is an excellent B-plot that plays with the concept of time. ![]() Is this the rough framework of every season premiere now - a vision of the future followed by a déjà vu-inducing Jessica episode? It’s the same place where we saw Rick die, so for Morty to be cradling Rick’s injured body here feels like a rehash of even more old imagery. The landscape evokes Forbodulon Prime, the barren planet from the Season 4 premiere where Rick brings Morty to find Death Crystals. Season 5 even opens on an alien planet where crystals show alt-reality versions of Morty and Rick. ![]() He nearly destroyed the world over his commitment to a vision of the future where they seemingly grew old together. The Rick and Morty Season 4 premiere also focused entirely on Morty’s unhealthy obsession with Jessica. But if it’s just another false start on the road to getting over Jessica, it’ll wind up feeling exhausting in retrospect. If this is the start of a season where Morty grows up a bit and connects with other girls his age, that’s great. Rick and Morty either needs to invest more in Jessica or let her go entirely. The Season 5 premiere takes a bold step forward, but will it stick beyond this one episode? Instead, Jessica is a prop without a surname who slides into view as Morty’s focus whenever the story demands it. The Morty-Jessica dynamic would also be more interesting if the show ever invested in some “will they won’t they” tension or wrote Jessica with more complex psychology. And his isn’t the only area where Rick and Morty keeps retreading familiar territory. Rick was moving in the right direction when he kept Birdperson alive at the end of Season 4, but it’s time for Rick to start making strides toward something resembling character development. At some point, the show is going to have to choose one route and commit. It’s as if Rick and Morty is stuck somewhere between the repetitive cycle of The Simpsons and the narrative arc of BoJack Horseman. Adult Swimīut every time Rick inches toward character development, the show forces him to reset. Rick grew emotionally in Season 3, Episode 3, but he quickly reverted to his terrible old self. At what point will Rick learn from his mistakes and grow a little bit? He’s already sacrificed his freedom to save his family, turned himself into a pickle to avoid therapy, and faced the Terminator version of his best friend. So many episodes over the last two seasons have humanized Rick, and the Season 5 premiere is yet another reminder of his many flaws. The whole episode is designed to cut Rick down a peg, challenging any fans who might still see him as a demi-god rather than a toxic alcoholic. Nimbus, a flamboyant and flirtatious Aquaman-type character Jerry later describes as a “horny ocean man.” (Which is a totally accurate description, for what it’s worth.) This attracts the attention of Rick’s nemesis, Mr. When it seems like they’re going to die, he calls Jessica to confess his feelings, but after she expresses interest in hanging out, Morty regains the will to live and crash-lands in the ocean. ![]() Rick and Morty Season 5 opens as Morty carries a gravely wounded Rick across an alien landscape and flies Rick’s ship through a portal back to Earth. In the fovea, there is a 2 to 1 ratio of red and green specific cone cells, respectively, whereas cones in the peripheral surrounding macula are responsible for blue light detection. The central fovea contains neither rods nor even synapses, but only 100% cones which have an unobstructed view of the incoming light from the outside world. Cone cells specialize in detecting either red light (64%), green light (32%), or blue light (2%) and concentrate primarily in the central area of the retina referred to as the macula- which also contains fovea. Unlike rods, cones are less sensitive to photons in general but are better at responding to one of three specific (colors) wavelengths of light. The human retina contains approximately 6 to 7 million cones in total, comprising only 5% of the total number of retinal photoreceptors, but our visual acuity relies on as little as 100000 cones. Rod cells use glutamate as their neurotransmitter and synapse onto second-order bipolar cells at the outer plexiform layer. The configuration of rods into the retinal system allows them to use their unique sensitivity to photons and integrate the photon signal for longer by converging multiple rods onto a single RGC and thus reducing background noise. Rods have a higher sensitivity to single photons of light than cones, whereas cones are more sensitive to specific wavelengths (colors) of light. ![]() More rods converge onto a single retinal ganglion cell (RGC), whereas, cones keep a 1 to 1 ratio allowing for this difference in spatial acuity to emerge. It is essential to understand that rods poor spatial acuity is not a result of any inherent inferiority in the rod cell, but a result of wiring. This phenomenon can be appreciated when objects are more visible when one looks just above or just below the intended object in a dark setting. Although the rods differ from the cones in ways that seem to make them inferior, the off-axis visual quality using rods is remarkably good. Also, rods cannot function during the daytime as they are "photo-bleached" and need 20 minutes to recover, and only after 40 minutes after sunset or immersion into darkness can all the rods come online and help with creating scotopic vision. Rods have a slow speed of response, and their spatial acuity and contrast sensitivity are also very low, directly contrasting the rapid, high spatial acuity, and high contrast sensitivity of cones. Rods differ from their color-sensing cone counterparts in a variety of ways. Rods are concentrated in the outer retina and their density increases as one moves outward towards the periphery of the retina, with there being zero rods in the central fovea. In humans, approximately 95% of the photoreceptors in our retina are rods, and they specialize in registering low-light levels, thus helping to create a black and white vision- known as scotopic vision. It is presumed this evolutionary change allowed for organisms to have better survival in low-light settings. ![]() Rod cells can be traced back to approximately 500 million years ago when a piscine ancestor evolved rods to supplement the already pre-existing cones. The retina itself consists of six different cell lines divided into ten different layers, each playing a specific role in creating and transmitting vision. The different cell types perform a particular role and form functional circuits that specialize in detecting specific variations and movements of light. The retina is fed oxygen from a unique dual blood supply that divides the retina into outer and inner layers for more efficient oxygenation. Retinal tissue develops to become the most metabolically expensive tissue in the human body, consuming oxygen more rapidly than any other tissue. This long and complex embryonic development makes the retina vulnerable to genetic and environmental insults that can negatively affect retinal development. Development of the retina is a long and complex process that begins during the fourth week of embryogenesis and continues into the first year of life. Located in the posterior portion of the eyeball, the retina is the only extension of the brain that can be viewed from the outside world and gives ophthalmologists a rare window into real-time pathology affecting the retina. The retina is the innermost layer in the eye that is responsible for the visual processing that turns light energy from photons into three-dimensional images. 11/3/2023 0 Comments Fallout 5 ideas![]() You track them down and kill him, yay, end of story. Sadly the leader and that one guy who left the vault got away. They help raid the raider HQ and you win and get your parents back. Anyways, luckily they agree to help, only if you do (SOMETHING, IDK). The ship is filled with tons of militaristic weapons and such you start to wonder. You decide to go with them to a large (Ship? As in a ship on water) where you find the leader of this GoodGuy faction. As you walk out you are ambushed by lots of raiders, no way you can beat them by yourself right? Well here comes the Brotherhood!.Just kidding.(I'll call them the ) In the overseer's office you find documents on the guy who was kicked out, it was because he hadn't really gotten along with people (I see that I said kicked out before this.whoops) and had tried to hurt/kill many. You go back to the vault to find stuff to learn about stuff. The town you walk into is beautiful and is unlike the typical post nuclear war town. You have nowhere to go, but you decide to go to the territory of which the controls/lives. They are unable to escape because they were caught. So, as you are held captive with your parents in the Raider HQ, making the "special project" your parents help you escape. There, the boss/leader of the raiders is waiting for them and needs them for a special project (will explain later) to wipe clean of a new kind of race of humans created after the bombs fell (Unlike any from other fallouts) but they are not bad like the mutants and ghouls. But anyways, to make it short(ish), the raiders kill everyone but your family and bring you to their Head Quarters. Keep in mind there would be a few people to escape.Īs to why you are held captive, you have no idea why. He/she uses their pip-boy to open the vault and begins to attack everyone and bring them as hostages to their Camp. So you grow up to an older age to where you're (At least 16 I guess), and the guy comes back, but with other people, like thieves/bandits/raiders (whatever you want to call them). But soon someone leaves the Vault and it oddly concerns a lot of people, more than you'd think (especially if you're like 5 years old). So you grow up and live in a vault (Like all other games) living a pretty happy and safe life. So a short version of my idea for Fallout 5's story line would be this: I just wanted to create this page to see other people's ideas on what they have thought of for a Fallout 5 story line if it were to ever come out. To upload your horizontal video, jump into the app and hit the IGTV button on the top right-hand side of the homepage. Even the biggest platforms can’t demand people produce elaborate proprietary content for nothing in return but “exposure””ĭoes it change much for uploading content onto IGTV? Not really, as it is not different to uploading vertical content, but there are some things to bear in mind.Īt, .uk, we thought we would jog your memory on how to get horizontal content onto IGTV and the things to look out for. The launch and subsequent rethinking should serve as a lesson. Will we defy best practices to stay ahead of the curve? Or will this innovation prove useful only for entertainment? And will that change the purpose of the IGTV platform all together? The debate may never end.Earlier this month, Instagram announced that its video platform IGTV will be supporting horizontal video content, after much hype around the virtues of vertical content. Although I’m sure that content creators will enjoy the update, I’m interested to see what this could provide in strategic planning for marketers. I’m less likely to go back and find the smaller piece of landscape content, and reopen it in horizontal frame.īut hey, that’s just me. It’s the position that works best when I’m moving, and it allows for me to feel more confident to pause the piece of content and come back to it again when I’m stationary. Holding my phone vertically is more comfortable. And it has to be at LEAST 10-15 minutes in length. Personally, if I’m turning my phone for landscape view, I’m committing to whatever piece of content I’m about to watch. The first obvious reason is because now, IGTV will have to train users to turn their phone, a move not often made for quick consumption. And if I’m thinking strategically, I might have to play devil’s advocate and say this may not prove the same engagement as vertical frame. This new flexibility certainly makes room for more creative content, and could possibly drive more creators to the platform. IGTV users can turn their phones sideways to view the piece of content in full-screen. ![]() So how did IGTV combat the loss of real estate that comes with horizontal frames? A problem that reportedly influenced the switch to allow landscape videos on the platform. On a smaller scale, content creators may feel a limitation in creativity. So producers reshoot for social, taking up time and more importantly, money. Often times, tv spots can’t simply be cropped in order to fit vertical frame, as much of the set is distorted, cut out, or appears limited in value. This format sounds ideal, but what limitations do vertical videos hold? The user would be most influenced to pause in their scroll and observe the piece of content. It allows the piece to hold almost all of the screens view on most phones, making no room for distraction of other content. Thus, creating content in vertical format. For content creators and businesses alike, it would be best to take advantage of all the possible real estate on the consumers screen. So naturally, you consume your content in the same position. This is, of course, assuming you own a smartphone. If you’re like me, you commonly hold your phone vertically. Let’s talk about the pros and cons of both horizontal and vertical video on IGTV, and how this update in social media could be both beneficial and disadvantageous. But for the purpose of this blog post, I’d like to hold a debate… with myself. In the app’s original launch, videos have only been visible in vertical position, which made sense, considering it’s best practice status for engagement. IGTV has taken on a new design that now allows you to upload videos in landscape format. 11/3/2023 0 Comments Houzz vanity cabinetsLooking for new Double Sink Medium Bathroom Vanities for sale online?
